HTC Radar, Windows Phone 7.5 launched in India

Microsoft India Wednesday launched its latest version of windows phone operating system in the country - the Windows Phone 7.5. The firm also announced the launch of a smartphone in partnership with handset manufacturer HTC, named HTC Radar, which is based on the new operating system. Last week, Samsung had launched its Omnia W smartphone in the country, which comes equipped with Windows Phone 7.5.

"With Windows Phone, we have looked at the consumer experience in an absolutely fresh way. This operating system is stylish, innovative and one that seamlessly integrates the most sought after user experiences such as search, gaming, email and social networks across Bing, Office, Xbox, LIVE, Facebook, Twitter and more," Microsoft India's chairman Bhaskar Pramanik told reporters here. "The conventional application icons have been replaced by Live Tiles on the start screen which come to life with real-time updates from the web such as news, appointments or the status of friends," he added.

The HTC Radar is priced at Rs.23,990 and will be available in the market in the next week," HTC India's country manager Faisal Siddiqui said. The key features of the operating system are threads which enables users to switch between texts, Facebook chat and Windows Live messenger linked inbox wherein consumers can see multiple email accounts in one linked inbox. Built-in voice-to-text and text-to-voice support system also enables hands-free texting and chatting. "
Pramanik added that companies like Acer and Nokia would launch their handsets based on Windows Phone 7.5 in the Indian market. Pramanik also said that maintaining a balance between user experience and price is a difficult task. Phones based on Windows Phone system cost around Rs.20,000 presently. -IANS

AMD Fusion E-450, E-300 and C-60 APUs announced

AMD has just updated its C and A series APUs, which will soon find their way into the latest ultraportables, laptops, netbooks, and small form factor PCs. The new chips feature enhanced graphics capabilities, support DDR3 1333 memory, and HDMI 1.4a for viewing 3D content.

  At the top of the table, the E-450 has two 1.65GHz x86 cores and a Radeon HD 6320 GPU clocked at 508MHz, with AMD Turbo Core potentially cranking the speed to 600MHz. OEM's integrating the E-450 should be able to deliver upto 10.5 hours of battery life, according to AMD. The E-450 retains the 18W TDP rating of the chip it replaces - the E-350. Meanwhile, the E-300, which does not support Turbo Core will replace the E-240 at a slightly lower clock speed, but with dual 1.3GHz x86 cores. 
At the lower end of the Fusion line-up, we have a faster new C-60, at the same TDP of the C-50. The C-60 has a higher max CPU clock speed of 1.33GHz, compared to the 1 GHz C-50, while the GPU can clock up to 400MHz from 276MHz, thanks to the Turbo Core feature. Rated battery life is around 12 hours.
